University of Houston - Clear Lake and University of Houston - Downtown are offering scholarships for Summer Academy 2010 through a grant funding from the Texas Workforce Commission for academically talented and economically disadvantaged students. We offer these students summer learning experience close to home.

The purpose of the Summer Academy is to prepare the Texas future workforce to compete for high-skill high-demand jobs in science and technology.  Scholarships (for qualified students 14-21 years of age who are now attending any Texas middle or high school) may inspire students to pursue university degrees in STEM fields - science, technology, engineering and math.

The six classes within the Summer Academy are independent of one another and students may choose only one among the six. Aside from a refundable fee of $50 (refundable upon successful completion ), the CLASS IS FREE.
